To Do in Columbus This Weekend (Nov. 17-19)

It's Friday!

It’s Friday, which means it’s time to review a few of the things going on in Columbus this weekend. I will be watching my daughter in the Dublin Jerome High School production of The Little Mermaid tonight and tomorrow evenings (details below if you’re interested), as well as painting kitchen cabinets—a process I will share in a few weeks once it’s complete.

Blue Jackets vs New York Rangers

Friday 7pm

Watch the Blue Jackets take on the Rangers at Nationwide Arena. Columbus is only three points ahead of New York, so this game is an important one if the Jackets want to move to the top of the Metro Division.

Dublin Jerome High School Theatre 3 Acting Ensemble presents The Little Mermaid

Friday 7pm, Saturday 2pm & 7pm

Jerome Theatre 3 Acting Ensemble and the Jerome Drama Campers proudly present Disney’s The Little Mermaid. Based on one of Hans Christian Andersen’s most beloved stories and the Disney animated classic, The Little Mermaid is a beautiful love story for the ages.

Wildlights at the Columbus Zoo

Friday through January 1

Central Ohio’s favorite family holiday tradition went from a few strands of lights and a few trays of cookies to millions of LED lights, animated musical light shows, Santa, reindeer and other holiday festivities that can only be found at the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium.

Wild Kratts Live!

Saturday 1pm

Animated Kratt Brothers, Martin and Chris, from the wildly popular PBS KIDS® television show, “come to real life” in a classic Wild Kratts story.

Ohio State Football vs Illinois

Saturday 3:30pm

The No. 8 Buckeyes host Illinois in the Shoe this Saturday. Current forecast looks to be partly cloudy with a chance of rain late, so plan accordingly.

Columbus ChristmasFair

ChristmasFair is an annual holiday market featuring 150 artists and crafters with unique, handcrafted items: pottery, folk art, paintings, stained glass, jewelry, photography and much, much more.

Central Ohio Kennel Club Dog Show

Sunday 8am

See thousands of dogs from all breeds compete at the annual dog show hosted in Columbus Ohio.

Ohio Chinese Lantern Festival

Sunday 5:30pm

A glowing tradition, lantern festivals light up the skies of China every Lunar New Year, marking the return of the spring season and symbolizing the reuniting of family. Its colorful displays of floating, fiery lanterns has brought tourists from around the world, and now Columbus takes this beloved festival to the Ohio Expo Center and State Fairground for a memorable cultural experience.

Columbus Crew SC vs TorontoFC

Tuesday 8pm

OK, this isn’t a weekend event, but it’s a big deal. The Crew hosts New York City FC in the first leg of the MLS Eastern Conference Championship on Tuesday evening. MAPFRE Stadium is nearly sold out, but you may still be able to find tickets. If not, head to one of the local Crew bars or watch the game on ESPN.
