Things to do in Columbus This Weekend (Dec 8-10)
Well, winter looks like it has finally settled upon us for the season. Not to be deterred, Columbus continues to offer lots of things to do. Check out the roundup below, and don’t miss my previous post about Holiday Happenings Around Columbus. Have a great weekend!
Make and Take Ornament Event
Friday 4pm
Get festive at The Smithery during this special ORNAMENTS ONLY Metal Stamping Make & Take event. Choose from tree or bauble ornaments available in both copper and brass, then customize your ornaments using their large collection of metal stamps. Stop in any time during the event, no need to preregister. First come, first served, while supplies last. Open to all ages, even younger children with a parent’s help.
Amaze Escape Games – Boat Break Escape
Daily
The mission is simple, but the game is not. The last thing you remember is that you and your friends were on Campus after the game celebrating another great win. As the night wore on, you become friends with a cute couple who had amazing accents, endless stories from their travels abroad and insisted on buying everyone’s drinks. The next thing you know, your group wakes up in the hull of a boat as captives. Together, you’ll have have to work to break everyone free, find out where you are, how you got there and more importantly – how to escape.
Santa Speedo Dash
Saturday noon
Saturday, December 9 has been set for the 6th Annual Santa Speedo Dash benefitting the Central Ohio Diabetes Association (an Agency of LifeCare Alliance) at The Three-Legged Mare in the Arena District. Post run beer for each runner provided by Sam Adams. The 5K and 1 mile event is produced by the YPs Against Diabetes (YPAD). Speedos are encouraged, but not mandatory, but we do encourage fun, festive holiday wear.
Jack Hanna’s Home for the Holidays
Saturday
Help the animals of the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium by bringing any of the approved enrichment gifts (see the site for details) for their animals and in return, you will receive one free admission to the Wildlights that evening. Come out during the day and be a part of Santa Paws, the zoo’s animal enrichment activity that keeps the animals in the holiday spirit by giving them specially wrapped treats using materials that are safe for each animal. Later that evening, Jungle Jack Hanna returns home for the holidays and presents three LIVE shows with his animal friends.

The Blue Jackets are in a four-way tie for second place in the Metro Division. Every win matters, so go enjoy what should be an easy win over the Coyotes.
